GES DIRECTORS GET RELIEF AFTER THE DONATION OF 11 ISUZU PICKUPS.

The upper west Region Education directorates get relief after receiving 11 Isuzu pickups donated by GETFUND to be distributed to the entire 11 district and municipal assemblies in the Region.
Some few years ago the District and Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service in the upper West Region were using weak vehicles which make supervision difficult to the Directors in their various districts.

The Directors cry to the Government and other benevolent organizations to come to their Aid as they are well not resource to do their work effectively. It is in line with their appeal the Government of Ghana head and has come to their aid by providing them with 11 Isuzu pickups to aid in their work.
On Friday 20th March, 2020 the Upper West Regional Minister Dr.Hafiz Bin Sali handed over the Isuzu pickups to the Acting Regional Director by charging them to use the vehicles for the intended purpose.

He emphasis that the vehicles are not for attending funerals but to use them to improve their service delivery. Dr Hafiz Bin Sali also added that for the past years the results of BECE and WASCCE is on the declined hence the need for the District and Municipal Directors to use the vehicles to intense supervision to improve the results.
The Regional minister ended by saying that maintenance culture in Ghana is another challenge that hinder development. He therefore appeals to them to maintain the vehicles.

The AG Regional Director Dongyeru Godfrey applause the government for the gesture than to them and state that they will take good care of the vehicles to enable them work effectively.


He also added that fuel will be their challenge to work effectively and therefore ask for support from the District and municipal Chief Executive.

The municipal Chief Executive for Lawra municipal assemble Bomba-Ire Martin Domotiere stated that the way they use to support them when they were using the weak vehicles is the same way they are going to support them to fuel their cars.

NUGS TO CREATE A TAXI STATION ON NYANKPALA CAMPUS

The National Union of Ghana Students(NUGS) of the University for Development Studies (UDS) intends to create a taxi station on campus. The station is intended to solve the issue of difficulties in transportation especially during weekends and in late hours of the night incase of emergencies. Mr. Ramid the Local NUGS president disclosed the intention of the council on Friday February 7 2020 on Radio Grin's "Time with the SRC". According to Mr. Ramid the council shall register and give tags to all taxis that will be at the station also address and contacts of drivers shall be collected for easy access to them incase of emergencies and incase a student leaves his item(s) in the car, also commercial vehicles that do not have a registered tag shall not be allowed to enter campus and shall not also be board by students as it will make students feel safe and secured .
