SELL GHANA COVID-19 WORD ON THE STREET AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.


The Sharing Education and Learning for Life Ghana (SELL PROGRAMME GHANA); a Non-Governmental Organization, embarked on a COVID-19 campaign dubbed "COVID 19 WORD ON THE STREETS" on Saturday April 04 2020 in Tamale the Northern region of Ghana.

The SELL GHANA sponsored campaign was aimed at educating the people of the north on the precautionary measures recommended by the World Health Organization and the Ghana Health Service.
 

 The move according to the organizers became necessary due to the recent 10 confirmed imported cases of COVID 19 from Burkina Faso and Guinea to Tamale. Our community needs to be more aware than ever how easy one can get the virus and that the virus is here in our community, a team member Mr. Atuimah Valerius said to the Campus 360 news team.
 

He further added, the initiative of holding placards re-emphasizing the health protocols as well as putting up 4 more hand washing stands at vantage points is SELL GHANAS support response to the community.  For SELL GHANA, we believe in standing in solidarity with our volunteers in their communities in these critical times”.

Volunteers were seen standing at vantage points on the street with placards with some precautionary measures written on them. Some of the placards had the following words on them; 1. We have a social and moral responsibility towards each other, keep safe and save a life. 2. Avoid touching your eyes, nice, and mouth with hands. 3. Young people can also be infected we are not invisible stay safe!.

The team also demonstrated effective hand washing techniques to the market men and women as well as passers-by with their hand washing stands.

The event was also supported by volunteers from Mad Ghana, Yumzaa Foundation, Zak fashion centre. Notable people present were the Face of Northern Ghana Ambassador and Jakpa Koji; an upcoming musician.
